ABOUT

Sidney Chuckas

Sidney Chuckas creates and educates through his art spanning the fields of dance, fine art, music, architecture, and technology with a focus on dismantling racial politics and social constructions. His bold and invigorating works explore the possibilities of holistic representation and futuristic worlds, both in the academic and secular landscapes, while working to maintain the necessary recognition of embodied history and intersectionality in the spaces he shares with others.

Dancing since the age of 5 as well as acting, singing, and being a self-taught musician in mostly white spaces, has driven Chuckas to make, collaborate in, and converse with works that strive to honestly share the misrepresented and invisibilized narratives of BIPOC and LGBT+ individuals as well as utilize his own diverse experiences across many artforms to engage in others’ work. Chuckas has graduated from the USC Kaufman School of Dance with a minor in Architecture and is now an Emerging Artist with Ballet BC. With hopes to obtain more experience in directorial roles, while continuing in his career in dance, Chuckas hopes to design his one creative firm and as the creative director, share his mission to restore, amplify, and preserve the voices and narratives with other BIPOC and LGBTQ+ creatives and create a space for inclusive and innovative art.
